If you are looking to farm him then I suggest that you complete all of the vash'jir quests or at least the ones up to the point where you enter the cave with the submarine because you will then get saved to that cave and the capital city portal will now teleport you there, and said cave is right next to his spawn location.
Despite being a? Watch out for aforementioned ram ability if you are fighting him as it hits all targets in front of him for upto k, though this can be avoided by swimming round his side when you see him casting it, it does cast quite quickly though so beware.

Saw him yesterday for about the 7th time. Is this a bug? We're kinda.. He spawned around 2am realm time. If you're looking to farm this guy, looks like you only have to be in Eastern Kingdoms to even spot him with NPC Scan.
Edit: Just tried whale sharks, you can target them from UC too. What's up with that? I was in a party on my Alli Hunter that had tagged Mobus after a horde DK who was trying to tank it died ha , and we got Mobus to about halfway when the tag suddenly switched and Mobus went grey for us. There were a lot of other people around not in our party. It switched back once, but it didn't stay on us. We ended up killing Mobus and getting no loot. Lower ms is nice, considering I got stuck in algae a few times being far out of it.. But yeah, nice challenge to those who want to solo, you can use the same tactic as whale shark. By kiting it, you will be out of range of his wake and ram abilities, I used the wake time to evo if I got hit or try get a good combustion off.

That is just messed up. Comment by Just killed it a few mins ago, we had a pala tank me and a druid healer. Pretty easy to kill him with just the two of us, although it took about 10 mins. He scared the flying hippos outta me! EDIT: Fixed some spelling. As long as you sidestep Ram and Algae it should be pretty simple for most feral druids as long as no pesky alliance who just picked up the spawn from Stormwind appear to hassle you I am on a pvp server but got pretty lucky as the only people who showed were horde there to see me either fail or pwn.
Not so bad for missing a Poseidus spawn to someone camping one of the other spots. I also saw dots from other people killing it. Can't seem to FIND him anywhere, but he is definitely my target! Just can't get close enough to do anything about it!

Comment by StaticLgtBrngr What a pain this guy is to try soloing as a Death Knight tank, when you move out of wake and ram he often fails to reposition properly because of his pathetic hitbox size.
Even with taunting him at the end of each he can reset because he goes mad trying to get back in to position due to it because your bloodworms confuse him, each time he goes for one he will one shot it and his evade will turn on, you can usually salvage it when he does so long as you are in range but every now and then it fails, usually at the most annoying time possible when you have almost got him.
Note that if he bug evades and someone not in your party turns up and hits him again before you can despite still being in combat you will also lose your tap on him and you will either have to die or kill him for them. I always bring help now because of this whenever I fight him and regardless of whether you fancy a solo challenge or a free kill I recommend that you do as well, either way make sure you have some other players in combat with him along with you so he does not constantly bug out and reset, my favorite so far was having 4 others beat him with fishing poles while he layed in to me which seemed fitting but you can be as creative as you like ;.

Logged my feral tank iLvl and soloed it, just avoid Ram and Algae and you should be fine, if u need, heal yourself during Wave.. Ah the memories. And a polearm, and JC recipe. Didn't win anything, no achieve, but felt good nonetheless getting a Screenshot. Really don't have to worry about his abilities. He evades at times and I thought he was resetting but never fear he was just swimming up or around a bit.
Cape of Stranglethorn to be exact. And it said Mobus found! I was like "What? And I was surprised to find out that he was like a baby version of the Whale Shark. Is Abyssal Depths a part of Cape of Stranglethorn or what? I was thinking "Oh well, probably a hunter pet I came here to see what gives, read that you can detect him even if you're not next to him. I went to his spawn location and Abyssal Breach NW part of it. The fight took 40 minutes because i was using seal of insight, several people showed up and watched for a while but i eventually got him down solo.

This was the first time since 5. Id like to mention since no one else has yet that the patch appears to have reduced his visual targeting range significantly. This means that the days of him setting off every npc scan in eastern kingdoms are over, and people in places like Stormwind will no longer get the message that he spawned.
His scan range is still rather big when compared to other rares. I was able to pick him up for the first time at Poseidus's spawn point by Dimmergleep gorge. I don't know exactly but id guess his scan range is about yards now, still nothing to be ashamed of lol. Rather strange, considering I once could target it from Stormwind. I was away so I didn't actually see it pop. Come to my computer 10 minutes later and say, "Surely someones gotten to him by now. I was really unsure if I could kill him at first but decided to try it.
My first attempt I got him to half health then he reset for some reason. I thought it was maybe because I swam too far up to dodge his Wake ability. So on my second attempt I swam down to meet him after every Wake. This seemed to work, cause he never reset and I ended up killing him. If your going to solo, he enrages after maybe 3 minutes or so.
If your a class that can heal this shouldn't be a huge problem. I'm typing this up just to inform people that if you want to take down this beat, it's best to do it with a pet type class, or to be very, and I mean VERY well geared, but that's just I have seen. My hunter isn't well geared Slacked on him for my Mage , but to be honest, so long as you kite him in a circle and keep using you best attacks on him, you should be able to down him in mins.
My strategy was hold hold down the Q button and swim as fast as my three toed Troll legs would let me, at times I would have to move out of his AoE attack range Only got hit twice, but with a Spirit Beast you can heal yourself of a good amount, anyways, after around I finally killed him, I was so proud of myself, and very content with the gold, since at the time I was broke lol.

For those with the phasing bug - for some when you swim into "Abyssal Depths" Mobus phases out regardless if you have completed the zone or not - there is a spot in Nightmare Depths where Wil'hai is trapped where you can safely pull with a pet pull. Swim out from Wil'hai's ledge look down and you see a bit of the cliff sticks out into Abyssal Depths, that cliff tip is the target right before Nightmare Depths switches to Abyssal Depths and wait after testing this is the only pull place when Mobus is directly in front of you send in pet to attack and then call the pet back, now swim backwards so everyone is in Nightmare Depths and burn him down.
If you leave him in Abyssal Depths and kill him when you swim in to loot the corpse phases out so you want the corpse to be in Nightmare Depths.
